I am confused, is it love or hate?
Why is it that the people we choose to emotionally give our feelings of love to,
seems to be the same people that make us so angry to the extent where one begins to develop emotions and feelings of resent and hatred?
When you love some one you also start to make up false images and unrealistic expectations of who you want them to be,
and because of this strong love that you have for them, you then begin to become disappointed at their behavior that is not lining up with the expectations of your mind.
You should remember that God never gave us the ability to love because of what we want to get out of others, but God makes us to be able to love so that we may express His image out of our character. There are two types of love,
There is an emotional love that allows people to become attracted to other people through their physical appearance, depending on how they look, who they are,
and how they act, this kind of love enables people from different back grounds, cultures, religion, nations etc, to be able to have an opportunity to begin a conversation or a relationship with each other.
But there is also a another kind of love that goes deeper than our expectations, the love that penetrates and transforms the inner selfish part of our lives,
and changes it into the most powerful source of love that is willing to give, to submit, to relate, to speak good of, and to do what ever it takes so that it may maintain the harmony of peace in a relationship.
The scripture in John 3:16 says; for God so loved the world that He gave is only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Notice that God gave (His son whom He valued most) so that He may be able to express His love towards humanity that was not even acting according to His expectations at that time when He decided to give.
There is a love that can still give when even the person that you are giving to does not deserve to be given, there is a love that can still honor someone even when the person you are honoring does not deserve to be honored,
there is a love that can still trust even when the person you are trusting does not deserve to be trusted,
there is a love that can still respect even when the one you are respecting does not deserve to be respected, there is a love that can still speak good about someone even when the person that you are speaking good about does not deserve it at all,
there is a love that can still do the right thing even when every body around you is trying to force you to do the opposite.
I Am talking about the love that created the world, this is also the same love that breathed the breath of life into Adam’s body, and Adam becoming a living soul (Genesis 2:7), and that love is God.
Your love for others shouldn’t be measured on what they can do for you, but let it be the love that is measured on what God has already done for you, the love that can reach deep into others people’s weaknesses, and uses them as catalyst to do good.
