Chanukah – The rededication of your body as God’s holy Temple
Chanukah, The Feast of Dedication or lights, will begin on the 25th of Kislev in the evening when the sun goes down,
and finishes on the 2nd of Tevet (it takes 8 days of lighting the menorah, each light represents a day).
The Holy Scripture in the bible declares that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s as in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20.
1 Corinthians 3:16-17 says; do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
If any one defiles the temple of God , God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.
In this season around the time when the world keeps Christmas, the Jews (physical Israel) celebrates a feast called Chanukah, the word Chanukah means; to rededicate,
This is also the same season when the physical Israel commemorates the rededication (the cleansing, the purifying, the setting apart or making holy) of the temple of God in Jerusalem that was defiled by the evil culture and traditions of the Greeks in the year 164 BCE ,
the Jews (physical Israel) had to rise up against the evil leadership of the Greeks who were bringing unclean behaviors (idol worship, sacrificing and eating of pig, fornication, deceit, love of money, adultery etc) into God’s temple.
In this season the Jews decided to stand up and defend their spiritual believes, they cast out the Greeks, they cleansed God’s temple from all the defilement,
and they lit the menorah the (lamp stand of lights) to symbolize that; the light of God’s revelation has been restored into God’s temple.
This event took place around the time when the world keeps Christmas, and this is also the same season when most of the people become so slack in their spiritual relationship with God. It is written that you body is the temple of God.
In the month of December (around the season of Christmas) we engage ourselves in prayer, we remember to unity and honor the teachers that teach us God’s wisdom in this season,
we forgive and reconcile ourselves with those that have wronged us, through the giving of our presents in this season we reveal our love. we listen to teachings and read God’s word that encourages us corcerning God’s will for our lives,
we re-dedicate our bodies, cleanse ourselves from known and unknown sins, we celebrate together (by giving presents, relating and coming together) with the people that are in need of our fellowsihp,
We repent of the areas in our lives where we are falling short concerning God’s principles, and we also light the menorah (a lamp stand with nine candle lights),
which spiritually symbolizes that; we are lighting up God’s glory in our lives and we are determined to see ourselves give birth to God’s light in this same season when the whole world seems to be doing the opposite.
