The 8th month on the Hebrew (God’s) calendar is called Cheshvan.

The root of the word Cheshvan is “chash”, which in Hebrew means “quiet”.

The very name of the month commands us to be still, to be quiet.

After the building up of the dramatic of the past two months, Elul and Tishrei, to the day of Judgment, Rosh Hashanah,

when the entire  world stands at attention in front of God and Yom Kippur, the day of atonement, the next month of Cheshvan is a period of quiet from all the tumult.

Cheshvan is also called the month of Bul, which comes from the word Mabul, meaning the flood.

It is believed the flood began on the 17th of Cheshvan, and it ended the following year, on the 27th of Cheshvan.

Then the following day, the 28th of Cheshvan, Noah, who’s name means: “rest,” brought his sacrifice to God.

It is said in the sages of the Rabbis that this month is set apart for the Messiah and that He will come and will undertake the building of the Temple in this month, remember that we are the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16), so I believe the Lord is doing a lot of work on us in this month.

Number 8 is a life giving number, so this is also a month of life.

This month falls in October or November.
