Nimrod tries to kill Abraham
Nimrod; (spirit of Anti Semitism) tries to kill Abraham.
In the land of Ur (Genesis 11:28-31) there was a court or a movement which was invented by Nimrod called the “Chaldeans”,
and in this movement, astrologers, sorcerers, magician, witches and a council of priests,
was dedicated into the service of proclaiming, serving, and prophesying about the supremacy, and the greatness of their sun god“Nimrod”.
Nimrod was a king in the land of Ur in Babel, where proclaimed to be the source which gives light and energy to the entire earth,
so he said; “am the sun god, and I give energy and light to all” and that is why he was worshiped as a god.
Abram’s birth according to the Jewish writings:
The night before Abram was born, Nimrod’s astrologers were gathered at Terah’s house. Looking out into the night sky, they read in the constellation of the stars that the newly born child was to become the chief and the father of a mighty nation.
After observing and interpreting the meaning of the sign, Nimrod’s astrologers ran to him to tell about the star that they had seen, when the news reached Nimrod, Nimrod became afraid that the new star might darken and overthrow his own.
Nimrod fails to kill Abram:
Nimrod asked Terah to bring this newly born child to him so that he may kill this baby, so Terah decided to exchange his son (Abraham) with a servant’s child who was also born on the same day as Abram,
after they had taken the baby to Nimrod, Nimrod killed this baby with his own hands. Mean while, Abram was hidden in the cave by his father Terah.
Abram finds the spiritual path of his God:
Abram stayed in the cave until he was ten years old. During this time he came to believe in the existence of God through reasoning. And so he reasoned that there must be a Power above and beyond all the visible forces of nature, (existence of the sun, moon, stars etc),
there must be a Power Who had created them, and Who regulated and controlled them at all times. Behind the limited power of all nature, young Abram perceived the unlimited and timeless existence of God.
Then God made Himself known to Abram and taught him the right way of living. Later Abram went to the house of Noah and Shem. There he stayed many years; there he studied and learned to serve God.
