Sivan – The 3rd month
The 3rd month on the Hebrew (God’s) calendar is called Sivan
In this month we have the season of Pentecost, which is called Shavuot in Hebrew.
The word Shavuot means the feast of weeks or the feast which takes place after the counting of seven weeks also being the season of wheat harvest. Shavuot (Pentecost) falls on the 6th of Sivan.
Exodus 34:22, says that Pentecost (Shavuot) which fall in the summer time in the 3rd month on the Hebrew calendar (God’s calendar), is the season when an offering of the first fruits from their summer harvest was given, as it is written in Exodus 23:16, Lev 23:15-22, Numb.28:26-31, Deut. 9-12, Prov.3:9-10.
Why was the celebration of Pentecost called the day of Pentecost as it is written in Acts 2:1-4?
The word Pentecost means; counting to 50. Because there is an omer counting of 50 days, which begins from Passover in the season of spring time (barley harvest) and finishes in summer time on Pentecost (wheat harvest).
Also this season in Hebrew is called Shavuot; meaning the feast of weeks (the counting of 7 weeks from Passover to Pentecost as in Leviticus 23:15-17).
2 Chronicles 15: 8-15 says; that in the 3rd month of Sivan (Pentecost season), after Israel had entered in a marriage oath with God, given their first fruits, blown the shofar (Hebrew trumpet, ram’s horn) and sought God with all their hearts.
God was found by them, and the Lord gave them prosperity and rest from all their enemies that surrounded them.
In this same season of wheat harvest (Pentecost), Ruth 2:23, The legal rights between Ruth and Boaz were sealed and confirmed.
This was also the time when Ruth crossed over from being a gentile woman, into the realm of becoming Boaz’s wife.
Boaz was a Jewish man that knew the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
Pentecost initiated Ruth’s life into the status of becoming the grandmother of King David, King David being in the lineage of Jesus, Yeshua, our Lord (as it is written in Matthew 1:5-16, Ruth 4:13-22).
