What do you value most in your life?
The value you put on things can become the reason why you live.
The value (the cost, the time, the strength, the energy) you put into something, determines the amount of love that you will have for that something.
For example; someone uses his life savings to buy himself a new car, and through excitement;
because of his new possession, he decides to call his friend to take a look at his new car.
When his friend shows up he starts to insult, to negatively criticize and to speak evil against this new car,
and through these words of insult, the person that was exited about his new car becomes sad, discouraged and looses the sense of joy over his life.
Now; My question is, why did this person that was exited and full of joy, all over sudden enter into a mode of sadness, yet when it wasn’t him that was insulted, but the car he bought?
You see my friend , the thing is that, this car he bought represents the inner most desires of who he is.
Remember that the money he used to buy that car was his life savings (the money that he earned through his strength, energy, time, ideas and sacrifices).
When his friend began to speak bad against the car, he wasn’t insulting the car, but he was insulting the one who owned the car.
Do you know that it can be so easy to gossip, to criticize and to speak evil against someone or something that you do not value in life?
The things that you spend most of your finances on becomes the things that you put value on in life,
and you can never fight against (speak evil, gossip, criticize or pass cruel judgement) against the relationships or things that you have put value on.
People struggle with all different kinds of sins and evil desires, they fast and pray so that they may get rid of these bad evil habits, but when you look deep into their lives, they still put value on their bad habits.
It’s like someone who is fighting against the sins of sexual immorality and fornication in his life, but yet he still spends his money on a cable TV watching soap operas and TV series with people in gay relationships, reading and buying novels, books and magazines
that promotes divorce and sexual immorality, which eventually becomes the vision that he lives for, because of the value (the money that he spends) to support and encourage the life style of that evil habit through the products that he or she buys.
That’s why God commands us to tithe, as in Malachi 3:8-10 says; so that we may start to put value on his word,
because the things and the relationships you spend most of your finances in becomes the vision (dreams, thoughts and the desires) you think about most of your time, and they also become the destination that you are heading to in life.
