What is the celebration of Chanukah all about
The lighting of the Chanukah menorah commemorated in the season of winter, is a time when the Jews as a family gather together to celebrate the spiritual essence of their faith.

In the month of December (Christmas season), many evil events of anti semitism (persecuting and the killing of Jews), immoral behaviors of saturnalia, Dark troubles, financial crisis, wild hunt, unnecessary Christmas shopping have taken place during this season.
Light the Chanukkah light to expel the darkness:
This is why this season has become the time when the Jewish festival of light called Chanukah – Hanukkah is celebrated.
Chanukkah is festival of light that takes eight days. And through those eight days, a candle light is on the nine branch light is lit for each day.
Chanukah is a symbolic sign which plays the role of expelling, eliminating and converting the darkness (dark troubles), which occurs during this season of winter (winter solstice, december, Christmas season).
Maccabee – Jewish group of rebels fought against the Greek army:
During the season of winter, the Maccabee from the tribe of Judah obtained their victory for their nation Israel when they fought against the Greeks who were trying to enforce their pagan worship upon the Jewish nation.
From that Time untill now, the Maccabee victory over the Greeks became the celebration of Chanukah.
Explanation how to light the Chanukah menorah is given below
The Chanukah menorah is made up of nine branches.
Each branch has a location at the top which contains light. The middle branch or candle is the one that is lit first, and then; that same light is used to light the other branches on the menorah.
And this is done every day until the eight days of the festival are completed.
From the beginning of the feast of Chanukah, the middle candle is used to light a candle on each day, and this is done for eight days until all the candles on the Chanukah menorah are lit.
