What is the tree all about?
The question is….Why did they crucify Jesus, our Lord on a tree?
What is the tree all about?
As the scripture in Deuteronomy 21:22-23 says; cursed is the man
that is hanged (disgraced, punished, revealed as the evil one, treated with contempt) on a tree.
Genesis 3:8 says; that after Adam’s sin, God came to fellowship with Adam in the garden, and Adam hid himself among the trees of the garden.
Deuteronomy 12:2 says….they served small gods under every green tree.
Time came to pass in Jacob’s life in Genesis 35:1-4, that things were not spiritually right and God told him that you need to cleanse your family from the small gods ( things that they possessed that were spiritually connecting them to their ancestral curses), take them from them, and destroy them.
But the mistake Jacob did was that he took these small gods (idols) and instead of destroying them he decided to hide them under the terebinth tree (mistake).
In the days of Gideon, Judges 6:18-21, the spiritual leaders of Israel in those days had forsaken God and in replacement they were honouring the gods of this world.
When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon in the season of Passover (unleavened bread), Gideon decides to honour the visitation of God’s angel by giving an offering, but his mistake was that when he brought the offering ,
he did exactly what he saw his parents do every Christmas (he put the offering under the terebinth tree, Judges 6:19) and then right away the angel of the Lord rebuked him and said, Judges 6:20-21, take your offering (meat and unleavened bread), and put it on this rock.
And when he obediently did what the angel said, his offering was accepted, received and honoured and also his offering brought him in favour with God.
Notice there is a spiritual message to learn from the tree.
The tree in this concept represents the hidden sins of a man, and the gift that is put under that tree every Christmas represents the honour of a man that is given under the tree in respect to his own curses that have been passed on from his or her forefathers until the time of his previous existence.
Yeshua, Jesus Christ, our saviour was disgraced, punished, nailed and hanged on that wooden tree, so that every hidden sin, honour and respect that has been given to that tree, may be completely abolished and washed away with his blood.
Jeremiah 10:2-5 says; do not learn (practice) the way of the gentiles…..for their customs (traditions) of the peoples are futile (useless, worthless, silly, foolish, lacking spiritual significance), for one cuts a (Christmas) tree from the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
They decorate it with silver and gold, they fasten it with nails and hammers, so that it may not fall and then put (Christmas) gifts under it, neither can it speak or walk by itself (because it is just an idol).
