Who is a bishop?
When a man of God has been faithful in the area of dealing with the spiritual moral standards of a church, and him or her manages to transform the church into a raw model that is able to influence a nation or the government in which that church resides, then God begins to give grace and influence to that minister (it could be a pastor, or a teacher of the word),
This influence will begin to promote him or her in the ministry of reaching the government leaders, and having the ability of being able to deal with the matters that the government has failed to deal with on its own. Yes; am talking about the office of a Bishop.
God uses Bishops in governmental issues that the law of the land has failed to conquer, and because of this, the government will always run to the bishop for help in the areas of crime, violence, cultural discriminations, racism, marriage dysfunctions etc.
The bishop will also become the voice of the church in within the government parliament house in which that church resides.
Bishops can also be elected as prime ministers, presidents, mayors, politicians etc,
Who elects Bishops?
Because of the godly character of a bishop and his spiritual ability of being able to influence, to teach, to help, to aid, and to lead his family and the church, plus those that are out side of the church, the bishops’ service will always find favor and his name will become popular among the people (not only among those who believe in God, but also those that do not believe), to the extent that people will elect and choose the bishop’s service in the areas where the government lacks spiritual and physical structure (simply meaning that; bishops are not dictators they are like kings, it’s the people themselves that chooses the bishops).
Bishops are always elected by the people, but commissioned by the church. (Apostolic commissioning) read 1King 5:1-3
1Timothy 3:1-7 says: If a man desires the position of a bishop, he desires a good work.
A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober minded, of good behavior, able to teach; not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous;
One who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence, for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God ? Not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the same condemnation as the devil.
A Bishop is leader that has been able to mold his life (marriage, Family and church) according to God’s biblical moral standards, and because of his faithfulness towards God’s word and standards, then he begins to spiritually influence, draw attention and become popular in the society in which his church resides. Through his godly influence the government authorities will start to acknowledge his abilities.
when a church begins to help the widow, take care of the homeless by educating them the biblical principles that will make their lives better, by transforming the lives of people that have been rebellious in the society into people that will befit the society etc, this will begin to elevate the pastor of that church into a place of a bishop.
A bishop is a man or a woman of God that is acknowledged by the government to be a person who has the solutions to solve the problems that the government laws has failed to solve on it’s own, and through his abilities the people in the society even non believers (those who do not believe in God) will start to get attracted to his leadership (Bishops can be elected as prime ministers, presidents political leaders, mayors etc)
The integrity of a bishop’s character makes the people to choose him as their leader, but bishops are always commissioned and ordained by the church through the apostolic ministry.
